What Is It?

Our Cold-Pressed Chia Seed Oil is obtained from whole chia seeds that are organically grown and sustainably harvested in the Andean regions. This oil is exceptionally high in omega-3 fats (up to 63%) and has an ideal balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids (ratio of 3 to 1).

Why is this balanced ratio important? Because our modern diet tends to be deficient in Omega-3 fatty acids while being loaded with excessive Omega-6 fats (due to the prevalent use of polyunsaturated vegetable oils). Too much Omega-6 (and insufficient Omega-3) can lead to inflammation which is associated with almost all degenerative conditions from joint pain, cancer to heart disease.

Due to its naturally occurring antioxidants, Chia Seed Oil does not require additives nor preservatives to maintain its nutritional value and stability over time.

Nature’s Superfoods’ Cold-Pressed Chia Seed oil is mechanically extracted through a cold-pressing process without the use of chemicals or solvents at low temperatures preserving all the essential fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidant properties.

Health Benefits

1. Protects Against Cardiovascular Diseases

Chia seed oil is a rich source of plant-based Omega 3 fatty acids (ALA), antioxidants, vitamins, minerals. Studies have suggested that ALA has anti-inflammatory and cardioprotective benefits.

2. Higher Antioxidant Benefits Than Chia Seeds Alone

Chia Seed oil has stronger antioxidant benefits as compared to chia seeds, due to the high Omega-3 concentration in the oil. Omega-3 is also an antioxidant. Together with other antioxidants such as chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid and flavanols like myricetin and quercetin, Chia Seed Oil can be a strong agent in fighting against oxidative stresses and premature aging.

3. Supports Skin and Hair Health

Chia Seed oil (be it ingested or applied topically) supports skin and hair health by nourishing and increasing the moisture level, which in turn helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles as well as relieve dryness and peeling. In addition, the antioxidant-rich properties of Chia Seed oil help deliver essential, anti-aging nutrients to the skin and hair. It can be applied daily or add into lotion or hair conditioner to provide the extra moisture and nourishing benefits!

4. Anti-Inflammatory Properties

Chia oil, in a perfect 3:1 ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 acts as an ideal anti-inflammatory agent. Studies have demonstrated that a lower ratio of omega-6/omega-3 fatty acids is more desirable in reducing the risk of many inflammation-induced chronic diseases in modern times. Chia Seed Oil has a low ratio of 1 to 3 (omega-6 / omega-3).

5. Improves Brain Functions

Human brain is mainly composed of fat cells. Therefore, it requires good fat sources like omega-3 fats from Chia Seed oil to strengthen and promote the formation of healthy brain cells and reduce inflammation. A deficiency of  essential fatty acids will lead to problems such as poor memory and cognitive functions, brain disorders like dementia or depression.
